Senior Leadership Team
Mrs Caroline Coates
I’ve worked in schools for more than 24 years and have already been a headteacher (at Laughton Junior and Infant School) for nearly 8 years. During my career so far I have seen many changes but always enjoyed that when you work in a school every day is different. I love being a headteacher and supporting the staff and children to be the very best that they can be. I am really excited to be the new head at Greenhill Primary School and knew as soon as I had a look around that it was a special place. I have lots of ideas for school and think that we need to get our children really excited about their learning. I want our children to go on a greater number of educational visits and have some interesting first hand experiences. I enjoy using twitter to share great examples of learning at school.
Although I am not originally from Sheffield both of my parents grew up here so I have always visited it and know it well. I came to The University of Sheffield in 1988 to study for my degree and never left! I love lots of things about Sheffield including; its hills, the walk from Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam, pottering around the shops on Sharrowvale Road, Pete Mckee paintings, John Lewis, the Winter Gardens and the view from Greenhill School to name a few.
When I am not working I enjoy eating out, shopping, reading and going to see live music (Mr Coates is a musician). Over the summer we rescued a dog called Betty and we are currently enjoying long walks and lots of training sessions with her.
Miss Emma Crabtree
My name is Emma Crabtree and I am Deputy Head at Greenhill Primary School. I first began teaching in 1999 and have taught in every year group from Foundation Stage to Year 6. I have been working at Greenhill since 2007 and enjoy being part of such a hardworking and caring team. I believe that all children should be encouraged to be the best that they can be and should be provided with an exciting, engaging and diverse range of activities during their school life.
Mr Scott Ellin
My name is Scott Ellin and I am a Y5/6 teacher and Assistant Head at Greenhill Primary School. I graduated in 2004 from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in English and History. I then went on to do a PGCE and started teaching in 2005. I previously worked at Malin Bridge for 4 ½ years before moving to Greenhill where I have currently been for the past 6 ½ years. I have 2 children, Jack and Isabel and spend most of my spare time out and about with my children and my wife Cathy, who I have been married to for 8 years. I like most sports and enjoy being active so Greenhill has been a fantastic school for me since I came here. I like to teach maths and English and love it when children become more independent and start to decide for themselves where they need to take their learning next. In my spare time I support Sheffield Wednesday and like to spend time with family and friends.
Mrs N Osborne
Hello, my name is Nicola Osborne and I am a Foundation Stage teachers and acting Assistant head at Greenhill Primary School. I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies and furthered my education at Birmingham University with a PGCE in Primary Education. I have been a teacher at Greenhill Primary School for 7 years and worked across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. I particularly enjoy teaching maths and working with children with additional needs as this links with the child psychology unit of my degree. I love working with the younger children, seeing them develop so quickly and grow in confidence. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my daughter and socialising with my friends and family.
Mrs Rachel Longbottom
Hello, my name is Mrs Longbottom. I have been fortunate enough to teach Y56 at Greenhill for the last 3 years. I have previously worked for a charites, and an engineering company before training to be a teacher at Nottingham University. I love teaching because it means I get to meet so many different and interesting people, and do lots of learning too! I have previously worked at schools in Doncaster and Dronfield.
My favourite subjects are Science and English. I really enjoy the variety of topics in science, from how our body works to looking into outer space! English has always been a favourite subject because I love to read and like how writing helps us share our experiences. I like to write about places I’ve been because I really enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures.
Access and Inclusion Manager
Mrs Alexa Broomhead
Hi my name is Alexa Broomhead and I am the Access and Inclusion Manager heading our Student and Family support team (SAFS). I have worked at Greenhill for many years in a variety of roles both inside the classroom and out. I love being able to support our children and families and hopefully help our more vulnerable pupils to achieve their full potential.
My qualifications include Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Autism support, Dyslexia support, Safeguarding lead, Specialist Leader in Behaviour and Attendance, Learning Mentor, Line Management and more.
I have two lovely children, both of whom are now independent adults so my time is now given over to my two gorgeous black Labradors, Bailey and Roxy who keep me busy. My husband and I own a touring caravan and we enjoy exploring new places, we love the flexibility of being able to have weekends away when we fancy it and of course Bailey and Roxy come too!
Greenhill is a great place to work, the staff and children are lovely and I feel very privileged to enjoy coming to work to do a job that I love.
