1/2D - Miss G De Carlo
Hello, my name is Gemma De Carlo and I am a Year 1/2 teacher at Greenhill Primary School. I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2013 with a degree in Spanish and Italian, and graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2014 having completed my PGCE. I have spent time in both key stage one and key stage two and have enjoyed them both! In my spare time, I love baking cakes (and eating them)! I enjoy Netball so much, that not only do I play competitively each week, but also run the school Netball club with Miss West. My favourite thing to do is go on holiday, relax on a beach and eat lots of yummy food!
2J - Mr T James
My name is Tim James and I teach in year 2 at Greenhill. I graduated from Durham University in 2011 with a degree in Primary Education, focusing on educational research. I moved to Sheffield that summer and started teaching at Greenhill a year later, in September 2012. As music and drama coordinator I’m very passionate about the performing arts. Quite aside from the fact that acting and singing are great fun, I also believe that they can be invaluable tools in personal development. Some of my most memorable teaching experiences have come through the residential trips that run throughout school which are an amazing opportunity for the children to expand their horizons together and develop their independence. Outside of school my interests include climbing and hiking.
2SF - Mrs A Simpson/Mrs E Furniss
Hello, my name is Anne Simpson and I have been teaching at Greenhill for nearly 10 years, initially in Year 6. I used to be a VAT inspector after leaving university, but have always enjoyed working with children. I did a PGCE at Sheffield Hallam and have taught at 2 other schools before coming back to Greenhill. My 4 children all attended Greenhill so I have been involved with the school at different levels for 25 years! I love teaching maths as I wasn’t very good at it as a child, so feel I understand when children find it difficult.
Out of school I am very involved in my local church, have an allotment, enjoy cooking (and eating!) and teaching Zumba classes. I love spending time with my family who are spread all over the country.
Hello, my name is Emma Furniss and I teach in Y2 at Greenhill. I have a degree in Primary Education from Nottingham Trent University. I have been a teacher at Greenhill since 2006 and have taught in Y1, Y2 and Y3/4. My favourite subject to teach is maths. I love the ‘light bulb’ moment when the learning clicks and a child truly understands what they’re doing. I love being a teacher because every day is different. I spend my days having fun with my class and preparing them for the future. Children who have been in my class would probably tell you that my favourite thing is chocolate and that my biggest fear is great white sharks! At home, I live with my husband Jim and our two gorgeous, energetic sons Henry and Freddie. We also have a dog called Barclay. We like to spend our precious weekends together as a family visiting Chatsworth or walking Barclay in Ecclesall Woods but we never miss a Sunday roast at my Mum’s.
